Derby Doings

Its time for March Madness, and I don't mean the NCAA tournament. With my brackets busted, I can focus on the Derby. Just when you think the Derby picture is starting to take shape, let the madness begin. Here's what's going on.

1. Lawyer Ron - Was ridiculously impressive in the Rebel. He's done nothign wrong. Can't knock him, can't fault him. He's the real deal. Arkansas Derby next.

2. Bluegrass Cat - Big Disappoinment. Have you ever heard of the 2nd place finisher in the Tampa Bay Derby winning the Kentucky Derby? Me either. Bluegrass Stakes or Wood Memorial next.

3. Achilles of Troy - Bad Start, traffic trouble, sore muscles, all adding up to a fifth place finish, and then being vanned off. Most likely off the derby trail in my opinion.

4. Bob and John - No excuse. Was outgamed through the stretch. Only a huge step foward at Santa Anita picks him back up, and I don't think he is anywheres near as good as Brother Derek.

Now for the "longshots".

1. Deputy Glitters - Nice race in Tampa. Lets see it again.
2. Like Now - Wired the Gotham, Wood and real challenge next.
3. A.P. Warrior - New Barn made the difference. Next he tackles Brother Derek. We know he has the breeding, but let's see him do it twice in a row.

Here is my new Derby Line.

1. Brother Derek: 7-2
2. Lawyer Ron: 9-2
3. Barbar0: 6-1
4. Corinthian: 9-1
5. Keyed Entry: 12-1
6. A.P. Warrior: 14-1
7. First Samurai: 15-1
8. Bluegrass Cat: 18-1
9. Point Determined: 20-1
10. Cause To Believe: 25-1
